Museum of World Religions is the only museum whose mission is to promote religious arts and education of life. This year is our fourth year of running “Pan-shi Project”, a project for Local Culture Museums executed by Council for Cultural Affairs. Following the previous exhibitions of architecture model, we choose architectures which are representatives of religious beliefs in Taiwan as the subject in “The Buildings of Religions in Taiwan” series. Since the exhibition date of “The Buildings of Religions in Taiwan I” coincides with Guanyin exhibition, the famous old temple with Guanyin as its main God—Lungshan Temple at Wanhua was chosen as the first architecture model of this series. The main focus of this exhibition is an architecture model of Lungshan Temple’s main hall. This architecture model is 30 times smaller than the real temple. Around the architecture model are black and white photos of Lungshan Temple, as well as pictures showing the difficult construction and reconstruction process. Through the presentation of Lungshen Temple’s fantastic architecture and its center of belief ─ Guanyin and other deities, we hope visitors could understand the art of religious buildings and diverse faces of religious beliefs in Taiwan. |
