Handprint
On reaching the far end of the Pilgrims' Way, there is a black heat-sensitive wall
on which visitors may leave a handprint. Each image represents a visitor's blessing
for the Museum of World Religions.
Hands play an indispensable role in religious ritual. They are used to make gestures,
to offer prayers and extend blessings, for healing of giving alms, or for touching
the body as a blessing. In some traditions, the hands of god (or gods) created and
rule the world, and it is with their hands that humankind reaches out towards their
gods and the rest of the world.
