The Buddhist Patriarch of Thailand Presents the Golden Buddha

On January 18th 2000, H.H. Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara, the 86-year-old Patriarch of Thai Buddhism, presented the Museum of World Religions with a golden Buddha measuring 5ft by 3ft and weighing more than a hundred kilograms to be exhibitied at the MWR Opening Ceremony. The Patriarch¡¦s gift of the Golden Buddha, a certificate of blessing and a monk¡¦s robe symbolize the Three Jewels of Buddhism - the Buddha, Dharma (teachings) and Sangha (monastic community).

The statue was safeguarded on its journey to Taiwan by the former Deputy Minister of Education of Thailand and ten other officials. MWR founder, Dharma Master Hsin Tao, similarly dispatched 108 ¡§guardians of Buddhism¡¨ (monks and nuns) to Thailand to reverentially receive the golden Buddha.
