Reflecting on the Tenth Anniversary of the MWR T he existence of the Museum of World Religions (MWR) in Taiwan can be seen as a revelation of love and peace. It seems like in the blink of an eye the MWR is already ten years old, and although it has received much recognition abroad, it's still not very well known inside Taiwan. We need to continue to promote the mission and duty of religion and carry on this sort of spirit. My hope is that in the future, religion will do more to resolve conflict. Taking world peace and love for the entire planet as our mission, we need to start from our common ideals and go on from there to implement practical solutions. Over the past two decades, people all around the world have been talking about peace, yet people want to see concrete r e s u l t s, a s k i ng“So, wha t have you accomplished?”In the future the MWR needs to concentrate less on theory, and more on practical experience. The MWR has not yet become a very prominent institution in Taiwan, and every year for a decade now it has barely been able to raise enough funds to cover its operating costs. Next year is the MWR's tenth anniver- sary, and it's also the 100 th anniversary of the Republic of China. I hope that at this impor- tant time all of our friends and supporters from both Taiwan and abroad will come together to reconnect with the purpose for which the MWR was founded, while also recognizing that its mission remains unful- filled. Still, it's a great honor for Taiwan that at the beginning of the new millennium it's the only place in the world to have success- fully established such a sacred space. The Museum of World Religions is a gift from God, and here in Taiwan we bear witness to this beacon of peace. With right mindfulness and faith we can realize peace in our families, societies, and in the entire world. May there be peace and prosperity in Taiwan and throughout the world; may all beings be free of suffering. Finally, the MWR is looking forward to your continued involvement, interest, and support.
