As a theme museum dedi ca t ed to presenting religious art, promoting life education, and collecting and preserving the common heritage of human culture, the MWR continually strives to expand its appeal to the general public by maintaining a broad field of vision. In this age of cultural diversity, religions and various secular ideo logies and w o r l d v i e w s n e e d t o b e mu t u a l l y comprehensible and undergo a process of mutual adaptation, a process which will necessarily strengthen the evolutionary interaction between secular traditions and the truths found in the world's religious traditions. The e s s en t i a l f o rms o f r e l i g i ous expression can be seen on a variety of levels, including practice and ritual, experience and emotion, narrative and myth, doctrine and philosophy, ethics and law, society and institutions, and material culture. These levels of religious expression can be seen in the exhibits held at the MWR over the past ten years. On the levels of practice/ritual and narrative/myth, there is currently the special exhibition on the worship of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico titled Huamantla’s Flower and Sawdust Carpet. On the levels of narrative/myth, society/institutions, and material culture, there was the special exhibition titled Spirit of the Ancestors-The Religion and Culture of Taiwan’s Indigenous Peoples. On the levels of narrative/myth, doctrine/philosophy, ethics/law, and society/ institutions, we held a long-term exhibit on Zoroastrianism, an ancient faith which has had a major influence on a number of world religions. These are just a few examples of the MWR's continuing commitment to holding world-class exhibitions and surpassing past accomplishments.
