The most important text in Judaism is the Jewish canon known as “Sefer Torah”. It contains the Five Books of Moses. This Torah was made in the 19th century CE, and copied from right to left on parchment by a scribe. It is read aloud during a synagogue service and is then stored in a covering or a Holy Ark (cabinet used to store the Torah). For religious Jews, copying and making scrolls of the Torah is one of the 613 Commandments to fulfill.
